Info on joining in

Key info on drop-ins:

All welcome!
Absolutely everyone is welcome to come and join us regardless of age, background, or experience. You don’t need to know anything about gardening to come and join us, we all learn together and look it up in a book if we are not sure. Some of us are trained, but many of us learn as we go and that’s what it’s all about – learning & growing together. You can work on your own for peace and quiet or alongside someone else, and there is always a choice of jobs to do.

Children welcome!

Children are welcome to learn and enjoy the garden with us. However it is important to know that the garden is not a playground, so they must be helped along by a responsible adult to make sure they don’t hurt themselves with any of the spiky plants or sharp tools.

Free & no obligations:

There is no membership, no cost and you don’t have to commit to anything, just come when you can, but we hope it will be often. There are no obligations or expectations. You can what you can, and you are welcome even to just come by to chat with us in the garden. We are a sociable group, stop for tea in the shelter and share a vegetarian picnic lunch. At the end of the day we share out whatever harvest is ready to take home.

There are lots of work gloves and tools but please wear stout shoes and bring a hat when the sun is shining and a raincoat when it’s wet.

Timings:

The working day starts at 11am and we share the harvest at about 2pm but when it is light and warm we may well stay on for a while longer if we can. Each person can stay for as long or as little as you like – any time that you are able to dedicate to the garden is greatly appreciated.
